That Curb Appeal

I have slowly been updating my porch plant situation, adding an herb here and a flower there. Especially after losing a massive tree in front of our apartment last year, as well as a huge tree-bush in front of our stairs (goodbye privacy), our entrance looked quite bare, so I decided to invest more time & energy into beautifying our exterior.

Every few months, I update the flowers & herbs outside that work best with the season. It’s definitely taken some time (and money) to maintain, but the affects are worth it to me.

Recently, as we are reaching the end of Summer, I bought different varieties of marigolds and planted them in my hanging baskets, as well as the planter on top of my planter stand. I love the pop of color it brings to my rather beige house, and their resistance to heat is clutch in these coming hot weeks too, always a win.

I also like to keep as many herbs as I can, and I use them all the time in cooking & cocktails! I love going out in the evenings and snipping a few sprigs of rosemary or basil to enjoy later that night.

If you are nervous to begin your journey of plant parenthood, try starting with succulents — they are super easy to take care of and you only need to water them like once a week (if that, seriously, the most forgiving plant you’ll ever have). As you begin to find your rhythm, you can slowly begin to incorporate new plants to your family & voilà, you have a garden.

However big your porch (or doorway) is, there’s always something you can add that brings some earthiness, pop, and personality to your home — no need to overdo it. It’s time get your hands dirty & bring on the curb appeal!
